Validation is a highly effective Business School quality assurance process that is less resource intensive than accreditation. Validation assesses a Business School’s performance against BGA’s Charter principles, and is considered a great stepping-stone to achieving accreditation.
Validation is an efficient quality assurance process for business schools that doesn’t require extensive resources. It involves assessing a business school’s adherence to the BGA’s Charter principles, which encompass integrity, social responsibility, and continuous improvement. Achieving successful validation is a crucial milestone on the path toward accreditation, signifying a school’s commitment to upholding these principles and laying a strong foundation for the accreditation process.
Validation serves as an excellent continuous improvement mechanism for business schools. It aims to ensure that the business school can demonstrate to external parties that it is reputable against independent, international quality standards.
The validation process is particularly useful for institutions that have never undergone an international accreditation process before, but who aspire to achieve it.
The validation process is handled entirely offsite, requiring no assessors to visit your campus or classrooms in person. Required materials are securely handled online using protected cloud-based technology, and assessments are held using the latest available software.
Participating institutions are provided with templates to guide the submission of documents that demonstrate the business school’s ability to meet the validation criteria.
Upon completion, highly skilled assessors will review the completed documents and provide a comprehensive report focusing on areas such as graduate employability, feedback loops, innovation, equality and diversity measures, links to social responsibility and ethics, and much more.
Validation’s low-cost and less intensive process means that it can be frequently reviewed to ensure the business school is meeting all the principles of the BGA Charter.Â
Successful attainment of validation is dependent on an institution’s ability to provide the required materials, however the entire process can take as little as six months.
Business schools that have successfully completed the validation process earn ‘silver status’ within the BGA network. Achievement of validation is an indication of the business school’s achievements and can be communicated to internal and external stakeholders.
BGA is a proud supporter of the United Nations’ Principles for Management Education (PRME). As such, business schools undergoing the validation process must clearly provide evidence of how they play a role in tackling at least five of the seventeen UN Sustainable Development Goals.
